In this project I have learned skill and found weaknesses. One of the skills I have learned is how to create a print poster, for products such as the one we had to advertise, on Photoshop and how to create special effects on text to give a relative feel to the product. A weakness I have found is writing about story boards and creating photographic story boards is a fairly weak area of mine. I feel though as if I am progressing fairly well though as I am picking up more tips and skill in class which is really useful.
For our project we were asked to re-brand old products for a younger audience to what the products were originally aimed at such as our product for instances ‘Bovril’ the target audience for Bovril before we re-branded it was the older generation with it being a old drink created in roughly the 1870’s. Our new target audience was young people aged from 16+ so that we can bring Bovril back. I think elements in our project such as ‘the Bovril man’ and the slogan ‘Beef it up with Bovril’ work to draw our intended young audience in because the Bovril guy is high energetic and fast paced and ‘beef it up with Bovril’ works too seen as though young people want to be ‘beef’. If I could improve this project and do it again I would change the music that would put in place on the advert and add a comical feature to it. Our project is sort of tailored to meet the demands of the target audience but some of it is not as whether the drink itself is nice or not well they won’t know until they try it. This work demonstrates and understanding of audience segmentation systems as it shows that we have looked at them and which audience Bovril will fit into if made into a youthful drink.

Some nice points made on how your products appealed to your target audience.
ReplyDeleteNeed to go in a lot more detail Amy. Rather than just mention photoshop and camera skills, you need to discuss specific skills (text control, lasso tool, cropping, layer, framing and layout etc). Discuss how effectively you used them and what you need to develop further. What would you do again given the chance to make it more professional.
